Ingrid Floss & Jin Young Lee, "Dialogue in Colour
"

I first met Lee Jin Young a year and a half ago in Geneva, and was struck with the idea of bringing her together with Ingrid Floss. I thought, "Wouldn't it be exciting if these two highly talented young artists were to meet? They are both filled with a boundless enjoyment of colour".

Some questions arose in my head such as whether they could find a link between their global emotions and their different cultural backrounds since Ingrid lives and works in Munich and Jin Young lives and works in Seoul, South Korea. However, both artists have studied around the world: Ingrid in Belfast, Australia and the US and Jin Young in the US for ten years.

Despite having met only once, would it be possible to work together on the same painting while being physically separated between Munich and Seoul?

Would the creativity or the intellect dominate their joint work?

Could a cultural bridge be built between Germany and Korea, since the level of awareness of each other's culture is very different?

Rudiger Heise wrote last year: "There is an asymmetric mutual perception between Germany and Korea. Whilst the Koreans have a lively interest for the events within the German cultural scene and a deep affinity for German Classical music, the German public, however, knows primarily that Korea is divided into north and south states."

In the last twelve months, I have taken great pleasure in establishing contacts with six Korean artists and in particular building a good working relationship with Lee Jin Young through which we have become close friends. I like her creativity, high spirits, and reliability. To me Jin Young embodies the best of Koreas young artists.

When I met Ingrid Floss for the first time four years ago, I was impressed by her motivation and strong commitment to her work. Later I learned to appreciate her sensitivity and at the same time her remarkably powerful character. She manages to combine her affection for the wonderful tradition of the western fine arts with a clear perception of the present time. Ingrid's artistic performance is outstanding.

Yesterday, I was excited to see five of the joint paintings started by Jin Young in Seoul and finished by Ingrid in Munich, and very much look forward to seeing the next works which are on the way.
